Is it concerning if an infant falls from bed and has vomiting?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is 11 months old and ell from the bed which is 70 cm in height at approximately around two in the morning. When she fell, she cried a little and then after being fed by her mother she fell asleep and did not have any trouble. She woke up in the morning normally without any issues and we do not see any difficulties visible in her. However today morning during feeding, she did throw up all the milk. Hence I would like to get a piece of advice from the doctor if anything has to be checked from our end.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand your concern.

1. If the baby is not irritable, feeding well, and playful it is less likely the baby could have serious injury.

2. Watch for local swelling.

3. Observe inconsolable crying, persistent vomiting, fever, convulsions (fits), and refusal to feed.

4. If these symptoms present, try to see the doctor.

5. One episode of vomiting could be just due to overfeeding, if it occurs multiple times then it is of concern, and one needs to visit a doctor. Feel free to contact me if you have any other concerns.

Thank you.
