Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My son is around 2 months old and irritable during breastfeeding. The stool is yellow and frothy but decreased in frequency since birth; it comes once every two to three days. His abdomen is distended and passes a lot of gas with a very bad odor, and he seems in pain when passing the gas. There is no vomiting, only spiting some milk after feeding. I have tried Simethicone drops, but there is no result. I thought of lactose intolerance and tried lactase drops but still no result.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Newborn babies pass motion every two to five days and can go up to one week. If you are feeding well, then there is no need to worry. However, the abdomen will look full, and the gas will be smelly. But, again, there is no need to be concerned about these newborn behaviors. Please do not make your diagnosis and give unwanted medicine to your baby. Only breastfeeding is required, and burp well after each feeding.
Thank you.
