Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My father had a high fever, chills, and severe headaches, which we thought were just viral. But yesterday, we noticed a small black sore on his leg, like an ulcer, like a "tick bite." The local clinic did some blood tests, and the doctor mentioned something about scrub typhus, which I had never heard of before. His platelet count was low, only 85,000, and his WBC count was slightly elevated at 12,500. The LFT also showed his liver enzymes were high – SGPT was 95, and SGOT was 110. He also has diabetes and hypertension, so I am worried about his overall condition. Could this scrub typhus thing be causing his sugar and BP to get worse?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Relax and make yourself stress-free. Some medications that help are,
Tablet Ivermectin 12 mg once a week for 2 weeks.
Permite BB bar soap for bath for 2 months.
Apply Zole ointment at night for 2 weeks.
Apply Metronidazole 1 percent gel in the morning for 10 days.
Some lifestyle changes can help like,
Avoid chronic friction.
Avoid injury to the foot.
Keep checking on sugar levels.
I need to assess the lesion to better understand skin concerns.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
