How to treat and manage balanitis?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have cuts on my penis and balanitis with white spots. I tried Taro Clotrimazole 1 % cream antifungal cream for 20 days. I have attached a picture. I want to know what prescriptions are recommended. I am 34 years old and developed type 2 diabetes two years ago, and no history of sexually transmitted infection. I am taking Abilify Maintena and oral Abilify. Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
As per your description, what you have is known as candida balanitis. This is due to your uncontrolled diabetes. Treatment for this involves using a cream with a combination of - Cotrimoxazole, steroid (Beclomethasone), and Neomycin - twice a day for seven to 10 days. I believe you are using only an antifungal cream, which is why you might not get the intended benefit or circumcision (a better option). Regardless, diabetes needs to be managed to have the best outcomes. I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you have any more questions.
Thank you.
