What are the recommended approaches for treating balanitis?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been dealing with balanitis. I have already undergone treatment using various creams containing beta gel, Cream containing Clobetasol, Miconazole, and Neomycin as well as medications including cetirizine (25 mg), amoxicillin-clavulanate, and betamethasone. Kindly provide your suggestions.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, were you diagnosed by a dermatologist? I am asking this because several conditions may resemble balanitis when they are not. Secondly, I suggest you discontinue the medications you are currently applying. I suggest you undergo fasting and postprandial sugar level tests. Kindly follow up with the test reports, details, and accompanying photos. Lastly, please avoid self-medication, as it can be more detrimental than beneficial. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
