What is the treatment for a vulvar ulcer?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a vulvar ulcer. Of course, it burns when I pee because the pee runs across it. Is there a cream I can put on, like Hydrocortisone, Sudocrem, or something? What treatment would you recommend?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern.
It would be better for you to send me a picture of the lesion. Did it was checked by biopsy or skin scraping or seen by any infectious control specialist? Have a strict check on your medical issues like diabetes, autoimmune antibodies, thyroid function test, anemia, serum ferritin, vitamin B12, and intrinsic factor deficiencies. I suggest you check on it. Have strict hygiene. Wear soft, comfortable undergarments. Use condoms to prevent transmission of sexually transmitted diseases. Have sitz baths to reduce irritation. Avoid cosmetics locally. You can have corticosteroid cream locally for four weeks at night. If you do not benefit from these, then there will be a need for a biopsy. If the lesion shows further symptoms or increases, you must have a thyroid function test, blood sugar level, ferritin, autoantibodies, intrinsic factor and vitamin B12.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards.
