Hi doctor,
I am 28 years old and completed treatment for bladder cancer several months ago. My recent scans and cystoscopy were reassuring, but emotionally, I still feel constantly afraid that the cancer could come back at any moment.
Every small symptom now makes me anxious, and I find myself repeatedly checking for blood in my urine or worrying before every follow-up appointment. Even though my doctors say things currently look stable, the fear has not gone away.
How do people usually cope with the constant fear of cancer recurrence after bladder cancer treatment, especially at a younger age when the diagnosis feels unexpected?

You are still young and surely have many things ahead of you, whether related to studies, work, or family life. Focus on these things and try not to think constantly about cancer.
Whenever you remember it, remember how strong you were and how you succeeded in overcoming it. Even if it ever comes back again, you have already proven to yourself that you are strong enough to fight it.
You need to resist this fear so you can truly live your life peacefully. And if you feel unable to do that alone, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking a psychiatrist for support to help you reach a calmer and more stable stage emotionally.
