Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My nose is bleeding often. It happened six to eight times in the past 10 months. The blood is red in color. I do not feel any pain, and the bleeding is not too much. Most of the times I do not realize that my nose is bleeding.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Bleeding of the nose is quite common in some people. Some of the most common causes are dryness inside the nose, pollution, picking of the nose, sinusitis, deviated nasal septum, rhinitis, and bleeding disorders. Considering the myriad of causes involved, I suggest you consult a specialist and have an ENT examination done. In addition to this, we need the following blood investigations also to be done: 1) Complete blood count. 2) Platelet count. 3) Prothrombin time. 4) Activated partial thromboplastin time. 5) Liver function tests. 6) Kidney function tests. If required, the doctor might do a nasal endoscopy and recommend for a CT scan of sinuses. Till then you are advised not to pick the nose. To prevent dryness, and maintain moisture inside the nose, you may use 0.5 % Menthol paraffin nose drops or Isotonic saline nasal spray few times a day in both the nostrils. Do revert if you have any further queries. I will be happy to help you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
