Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My 6-week-old baby had some blood in her diaper. What could the issue be? We were very worried.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Female babies show some blood coming from the vagina, called as neonatal mensuration. It is a normal hormonal effect indicating the future menses as they grow up. Nothing needs to be done, and just wipe clean the vaginal area.

I hope the motion is free from blood and make sure the blood is not coming from the anus with the feces. Update as required.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

The blood was from her bum, not from her vagina. The blood was in her poop, and she was only 6 weeks old.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Is she on formula milk, which can cause this from mild intestinal infection? If she is on breast milk, you can observe more symptoms like feeding refusal or excessive crying.

All said and done. Please show a pediatrician as there is a risk of intussusception. Consult a pediatrician and update me.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
