Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have been experiencing a feeling of heaviness in my head along with loose stools for the past three days, with two to three bowel movements per day.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
The heaviness in your head and loose stools that happen two to three times a day for the past three days may be caused by a mild case of viral gastroenteritis, which is a common stomach virus. This illness can make your feces watery, and the feeling of heaviness in your head may be due to mild dehydration, tiredness, or an electrolyte imbalance from losing fluids.
Your digestive system may also be upset because of something you ate recently, including spicy, oily, or contaminated food. Stress or anxiety can sometimes cause changes in the digestive system and make you feel pressure or heaviness in your brain.
At this point, it is vital to:
Drink a lot of water or use oral rehydration solutions if you need to stay hydrated.
Eat bland, light items like rice, bananas, bread, and yogurt.
Stay away from foods that are heavy, hot, or fatty.
Get enough sleep so your body can heal.
Most of the time, these symptoms go away on their own in a few days. But if you detect any of the following red flags, you should see a doctor:
Stool with blood or mucous in it.
Very high fever.
Throwing up all the time.
A lot of pain in the stomach.
Signs of dehydration include a dry mouth or feeling dizzy.
If your symptoms do not get better after five to seven days, you may need more tests and the right medicine.
I hope this answers your questions.
We appreciate your comments and use them to make patient care better.
Thanks.
