Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
This is a consultation for my 69-year-old mother. She is currently taking generic medication once a night, equal to Shellmax OP capsules containing 0.25 mg of calcitriol, 500 mg of calcium carbonate, and 7.5 mg of zinc sulphate. Her orthopaedician ordered this medication to be used daily since her forefoot fracture. Could you please prescribe multivitamins that she can safely take alongside her calcium pills, as she is not currently taking any? She nearly fainted while shopping. She had not had breakfast in the morning. So, to address her weakness, I would like to have her started on multivitamins along with her calcium.
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
Yes, she can take multivitamins with current calcium supplements, there will not be any issues in taking multivitamins with calcium or vitamin D3.
So I would suggest she take a tablet multivitamin antioxidants combination once a day (bedtime) for one month. Continue your current medication as it is. You can take any brand available in your country or can order online as well.It is over-the-counter medicine, so you can show them our chat, and you will be able to get it. If not, please let me know.
Thank you.
Regards.

Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
What happens after 30 days? Should the multivitamins and antioxidants combination be continued with calcium supplements?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back toicliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Yes, you should continue with calcium supplements. After one month, you should let me know how the treatment is working, and whether it is helping or not, and then we can decide whether you should continue it or not. So just let me know after one month for safety purposes, though there will not be any issues even if you continue.
Thank you.
