Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a breast cancer patient with brain metastases. My brain metastases were first detected last year, and I received whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT). Unfortunately, they have now returned. Could you please advise on the available treatment options?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
The treatment of breast cancer with brain metastases after whole-brain radiation therapy (WBRT) is highly individualized. It depends on the size and distribution of the brain lesions. If the metastases are aggressive, steroids may be prescribed to reduce brain swelling, anti-epileptic medications to control seizures, and chemotherapy or targeted radiation to manage disease progression.
Pain management is equally important, so discuss your pain levels with your doctor to ensure flexible and appropriate relief. Maintaining a balanced diet is essential; a daily intake of around 1,800 kilocalories with adequate protein and fluids is recommended to support overall health during treatment.
I would be happy to help you if you have any questions.
Thank you.
