Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My 5.5-month baby is not pooping for one week, and he vomits 4 to 6 times a day after breastfeeding. Sometimes we give him formula milk however, his vomit is like curdled milk even if he vomits after breastfeeding. What is his problem? Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
As per the limited information, your son had a seizure at the age of 1 month but has not had any since. He is currently 5.5 months old and has not passed stool for 10 days while also experiencing frequent vomiting.
With this history, it is important to gather more details:
Is he growing well? You mentioned his weight as 22 pounds—please reconfirm his weight.
Is he active and playful?
Before these 10 days, was he passing stool normally?
Is he attaining normal developmental milestones, such as social smiling, holding his head properly, laughing out loud, and turning over?
The current medication he is on is Betastene, but it is unclear whether this is a cream or eye drops and the reason for its use.
Ten days without passing stool is a long time, and this issue needs to be addressed first.
Use this medication:
Glycerin pediatric suppository – insert one suppository into the anus once daily for two days to help stimulate bowel movement.
Continue feeding, preferably breastfeeding, to ensure proper hydration and nutrition.
Kindly consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.
Please provide all the necessary details, and I will guide you further.
I hope this helps.
Kindly revert so I can assist you further.
Thank you.
