How to treat wheezing and sore throat?

Hello Doctor,

I have had a problem with wheezing for the last six months. I first had an X-ray, and it showed bronchitis. However, in the second X-ray, the bronchitis was gone, and the results were normal. Despite this, the wheezing is still there. My doctor prescribed medication for asthma and an infection, but I still have wheezing. Now, I also have a sore throat, as if there is mucus in my throat that could be cleared out. I feel like my doctor is not testing me properly; they keep giving me medicine, but I am not getting better. The second X-ray was clear and normal, but I still have wheezing, and a sore throat, and sometimes my throat aches when I eat or burp. What should I do? I also have white phlegm constantly, and I feel phlegm in my throat, though I do not have a cough. I wheeze when inhaling deeply, but not when exhaling.

I understand your concern.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It seems that you might be having chronic allergic bronchitis.

I hope you have been prescribed medicine for allergic airways. It is a combination of Monterlukast or Zafirlukast with Levocetrizine.

You need to take nebulizations with N Acetyl Cysteine results to liquefy the phlegm in your throat which will help you to cough it out and clear your airways.
Also do warm salt water gargles twice to thrice a day for four to five days which will help softening your throat.
It would be worthwhile to do a proper pulmonary function test to find out whether you have any underlying long-standing airway disease.
If you smoke then you need to quit that habit.
