Is it concerning to have a painless, slightly firm bump on the penis skin?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I noticed a bump on my penis skin after I came home from work the day before yesterday. It is painless and slightly firm to the touch, and it moves when the foreskin is moved. It does not bother me, and I do not feel it or notice it unless I see it. Since I was at work all day shooting video, and it was hot and humid, I was wondering if not showering may have caused it. Please give your opinion.

Hello,

We welcome you to icliniq family.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Please help me with a few details so that I can understand your issue better:

  1. Are you diabetic or hypertensive?
  2. Have you had any surgeries in the past?
  3. So, has this swelling only been there for the last few days?
  4. Have you experienced anything similar in the past?
  5. Is there any history of unprotected sexual activity, especially with a new partner in the last month or so?

Based on the images, it looks like humidity may have caused it, especially if you have not had a shower and were using tight underwear. Please revert back with the details, and I will prescribe some treatment.

I hope this has helped you. Please feel free to reach me again, in case of further queries.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

No, I am not diabetic or hypertensive, and I have not had any surgeries either. This has not happened in the past. I sometimes get bumps on my body when my stomach is upset, and my stomach has not been good for the last week or so because of eating outside several times and getting poor sleep. Yes, this problem has only been there for about 40 hours or so from what I have seen. It happened on the day when I had less water and, because of work, did not have the time to urinate for maybe 7 to 8 hours. I have had unprotected sex sometimes with the same partner whom I have been married to for the last three to four years.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Based on what you have mentioned, I do not think there is anything to worry about. This is just a small infection in the sweat glands of the penile skin. Here are my recommendations:

  1. Keep the area clean and dry. Hot and humid conditions promote these infections.
  2. Use ointment Surfaz SN (a combination of Clotrimazole, Neomycin, and Betamethasone) twice a day for seven days.

Things should get better in a couple of days.

Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.

Thank you.
