Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am writing to seek your advice regarding a health concern that affected my 30-year-old sister. Recently, she was diagnosed with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection, and we are seeking information and advice to better understand the condition and its implications. She underwent a routine cervical screening, which detected abnormal Pap smear results.
Following further testing, her healthcare provider confirmed the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. She has not experienced any noticeable symptoms such as genital warts or abnormal bleeding. She had no known history of cervical abnormalities or HPV infection before this recent diagnosis. There are no significant medical conditions in the family history related to HPV (human papillomavirus). We are concerned about potential long-term risks and the need for appropriate management or treatment.
Please help.
Hello.
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concern. HPV (human papillomavirus) can be dormant for many years in the genitalia and cervix. It can lead to warts, cervical cancer, and penile cancer. There is no specific treatment for HPV (human papillomavirus); however, one needs to get screened for warts and cervical cancer in females.
If there is no cancer, I suggest she undergo a half-year follow-up. Hope you found the answer helpful.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
