I have chest pain. How can I improve my heart health?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am looking for a suggestion to improve my heart health.

I have been experiencing chest pain, and I have the ECG with me that I wish the doctor would interpret.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Based on your ECG (electrocardiogram) report, the rhythm is described as a sinus rhythm with a heart rate of 67 beats per minute, which is within the normal range.

The QRS duration (100 ms) and QTc interval (414 ms) are also normal, meaning the electrical conduction through your heart is functioning properly. The axis and intervals do not suggest any major conduction abnormalities. Overall, this ECG does not show signs of acute ischemia (heart attack), arrhythmia, or structural heart disease.

Given your normal blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol profile, your heart health currently appears stable. However, since you have reported chest pain, it is still important not to rely on the ECG alone. Some heart or musculoskeletal conditions can cause chest discomfort even with a normal ECG.

If your chest pain is recurrent, worsens with exertion, radiates to your arm or jaw, or is associated with shortness of breath, sweating, or dizziness, you should see a cardiologist promptly and possibly undergo an echocardiogram or stress test for further evaluation.

Can you describe what your chest pain feels like, sharp, dull, or pressure-like, and whether it occurs with physical activity or even at rest?

That will help determine whether it is more likely cardiac, muscular, or related to another cause.

I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Thank you.
