Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I visited a cardiologist for my fluctuating heart rate and chest pains. She told me I was healthy and needed to focus on my anxiety. However, when I looked at my health records online, I saw that she wrote the results of an echocardiogram: Left Ventricular Hypertrophy (LVH) and diastolic dysfunction, with an ejection fraction (EF) of more than 55 percent. These results sound worrying should not they have been mentioned? I am 20 years old, male, do not smoke, and have been active my whole life. Most of my blood tests came back normal.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad you are paying attention to changes in your body. Do not worry, I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms, I believe you may have developed hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, where the blood flow from the heart is moderate, greater than 55 percent. I do not think it is much worse, although I would expect the echocardiogram to show at least 75 percent based on your age.
For now, please stop the Metoprolol (Kapspargo Sprinkle,), as your blood pressure is normal. This will help avoid hypotension and a low pulse rate. Reply if you have more concerns or questions by scheduling a direct appointment or follow-up.
I hope this helps you.
Thank you.
