Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I was diagnosed with chlamydia and was prescribed two 500 mg Azithromycin tablets, which I was instructed to take at the same time. I took them at night, and now it is almost midnight. Since then, I have developed diarrhea, and I am wondering if it is okay to take two Imodium pills to help with it. Also, is itchiness in the genital area normal after taking Azithromycin?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry, I am here to take care of you. Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed a medication side effect from Azithromycin, which has resulted in diarrhea. Yes, you can take Imodium two capsules at first, then one tablet twice daily for three days. You can stop the Azithromycin and change to one tablet of Ceftriaxone 500mg orally twice for five days if the chlamydia has not yet resolved.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
