What is the Doxycycline treatment regimen for chlamydia?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a question regarding my Doxycycline treatment for chlamydia. I received a 1.4 g intravenous dose in the hospital before starting my oral Doxycycline treatment. I have been taking 200 mg of Doxycycline daily for the past six days, which makes a total of seven days of treatment when including the intravenous dose.

Given this treatment history, I would like to know if it is safe for me to stop taking Doxycycline after this evening, which would be my last dose. I feel that my symptoms have mostly improved, and I am concerned about any potential side effects from continuing the medication.

Please help.

Thank you for your guidance.

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad that you are paying attention to changes in your body system. But do not worry. I am here to take care of you. Regarding your questions, I will advise you to take the Doxycycline 200 mg tablet for eight days despite taking the intravenous for six days to complete a 14-day normal regimen for chlamydia trachomatis bacteria infection.

I hope this information helps you.
