Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 27-year-old male and I have had psoriasis covering 85 percent of my body since starting Clozapine. The psychiatrist says it is finally controlling schizophrenia after 15 failed medicines but the skin is falling off. I tried every cream the dermatologist gave, but nothing worked. Sedation from Clozapine is so bad that one can not even apply creams properly. I am hearing voices. Is it real or hallucinations?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
It sounds like you are experiencing severe side effects from Clozapine, including both the psoriasis flare and extreme sedation, which can make managing the skin condition challenging. Psoriasis can indeed worsen on Clozapine, and the voices you are hearing could be related to the schizophrenia itself or a side effect of the medication.
It is important to consult both your psychiatrist and dermatologist immediately to reassess the treatment plan. Alternatives like biological treatments for psoriasis or adjusting the antipsychotic medication may be necessary. The voices are likely hallucinations related to schizophrenia, but it is crucial to work with your psychiatrist to address these symptoms as well.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
