Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My baby was born with clubfoot, and now she is 17 months old and walks, but her foot is not straight. I have pictures for reference. I am not satisfied with the doctors that I have been seeing. Therefore, I wanted another professional opinion. Kindly help.

Thank you.

I understand your concern.

Kindly send some details.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply.

When she was born, they put a cast on her foot for a month, then they had surgery on the back of her ankle for the Achilles heel, and that did not help because they did not perform the surgery properly, which was said to us by another doctor. Now, we want a specialist to do the surgery again, but they want to put her in a cast for a few weeks first. They also gave her some orthopedic shoes that we tried. I disagree with this option because when they put her leg in a cast the first time, it restricted her leg from growing, and they put the cast crooked. Her one foot is smaller because of the cast. I do not know how to help her. Please help me.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The common treatment for clubfoot is repeated and regular castings, changing the cast multiple times and manipulating the foot before applying a new cast. The cast technique shows the best results. A protocol for club foot treatment called the Ponseti technique gives the best results. Your child's foot seems that it can be corrected with the reapplication of casts. Have faith in your doctor who is planning for a cast before re-surgery. He will also advise splints or shoes, which have to be worn by the baby all the time as recommended by the doctor. Your doctor knows very well what he is doing. You can go for it. It is the worldwide accepted treatment.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
