What is the treatment for colloid brain cyst symptoms?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Last week, I could not remember stuff, was confused, hard to find words to communicate with, had a headache and issues with my right arm, and I was feeling weakness in my right arm. Now I just have memory issues along with a headache. Two days ago I found out that I have a colloid brain cyst. I am currently on medications like tablet Wellbutrin and tablet Prozac. I have no medical history of this complaint. I underwent the regular blood work and the reports came out fine.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Your CT (computed tomography) brain shows a 4-millimeter colloid cyst with no hydrocephalus (HCP) (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity). Colloid cysts are known to cause temporary HCP (this gives rise to symptoms), HCP goes on and off, and a change in posture can be seen.

As soon as the HCP (hydrocephalus) settles, the symptoms of the patient do improve. I would suggest that you get an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) of the brain and follow up with an MRI. If you also have this type of waxing and waning of symptoms, then we should consider a surgical intervention. But first, follow up with an MRI.

I hope my answer helps you. Let me know if you need further help.

Regards.
