Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been facing a significant issue with dark circles for the past seven to eight years. While they occasionally lighten, they have never completely disappeared. I am in desperate need of a solution for this problem. I have attempted various home remedies, but none of them have been effective. Additionally, my facial complexion is undergoing a sudden darkening. Despite having a fair complexion, it is gradually becoming more brown as the days go by. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, I would like to inform you that, dark circles under the eyes, also known as periocular hyperpigmentation, are a common cosmetic concern. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation can occur due to continuous rubbing of the eyes in allergic conjunctivitis and atopic dermatitis. Lack of adequate sleep and stress are also common causes of this condition. For your case, I suggest you use a cosmetic cream. Apply it daily at night over the affected area. Additionally, you may also use a chemical peel. Arginine and Lactic Acid peels are commonly used for treating dark circles. I suggest you use a readily available combination peel, containing Arginine (20 %), Lactic Acid (20 %), Aloe Vera (1 %), and Allantoin (0.5 %). This peel should be done once every three weeks and may require four to six sessions for optimal results. Glycolic Acid (15 to 20 %) combined with Kojic Acid is another effective option for treating dark circles. I also suggest you maintain your skincare routine with a face care face wash, using it twice daily. Ensure you get sufficient sleep and eat plenty of green leafy vegetables and fruits. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
