Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a concern. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) five years ago and took medications for a period of three months, six months, and one year. I had my last menstruation the previous month. My periods are delayed for one month with no sexual activity. Last month, I had sex with my partner and used the withdrawal method. Technically, I was already delayed before having sex. After sex on the next day, I took emergency contraceptive pills (ECP) using the Yuzpe Method (4-12-4) just to ensure that not to get pregnant. When I used the pill, I experienced bloating, sore breasts, and an upset stomach. It has been a week since I used the Yuzpe method, and I am still waiting for my period to come. Yesterday, I experienced hyperacidity. I am dealing with a lot of stress because of this, and I cannot sleep well due to the nature of my work. I want to know if I am safe or not. When is the possible date that my menstruation will come? I am depressed and desperate because I do not want to be pregnant. Please, help me. I need your advice.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understood your concern. Based on the information provided, the intercourse occurred during safe days, and if you have already taken emergency pills using the Yuzpe method, there is no chance of getting pregnant at all. Please try to relax. The symptoms you are experiencing, such as nausea and bloating, are likely due to gastritis caused by the pills. You can wait for a few days for your period to arrive. To reduce nausea and other discomforts, I suggest you to take g the following medications:
Capsule Pan D (Pantoprazole and Domperidone): Take 1 capsule on an empty stomach.
Syrup Ulgel A (Magaldrate, Oxetacaine, and Simethicone): Take 10 ml three times a day. Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent.
Continue taking these medications for seven days. This should help alleviate your symptoms. However, it is always best to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice and guidance. I hope this information is helpful. Feel free to reach out if you have any further queries.
Thanks and regards.
