What could be the reason for delayed periods?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Me and my girlfriend had some intimate moments but sex is not done. She got her period 14 days after we met. From then she did not get her periods. It is 18 days late.

  1. Is she pregnant?
  2. What to do now?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

To confirm this you need to get some tests done. One is a blood test beta HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) and the other is an ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis. Also, I want to know whether you were intimate with your female partner after that. And also whether you took any I-Pill in between.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor.

Thank you so much for the reply.

We did not have any penetration on that day and after that. No pills are taken. And she got her period 14 days after we met.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Okay, so get the Beta HCG and ultrasound of the abdomen and pelvis done. Then will give medicine for periods and if required will investigate for other causes of why she is not having periods.

I hope this helps you.

Thank you.
