Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took four emergency pills on weekdays before my period, and my periods got delayed. Then I took two more after the day of my period, and my periods have been delayed for too long. Is it normal? Please help.

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

The emergency contraceptive pill is not for regular use. It would help if you did not take such pills more than twice a month. If intercourse happened within 72 hours of the pill, then there was no need for another pill. It would help if you did not take these many contraceptive pills unnecessarily without a gynecologist's advice, as it may affect your menstrual cycle. Delayed periods must be because of the pills because there is almost no chance of getting pregnant in your case. So wait two weeks after your due date, you should get your periods in between.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
