Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I was late getting my period last month and eventually got it, but now I haven't had it again.
Is this delay normal, or should I be concerned?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your query and understand your concern.
If your period is delayed by over a month and you have not gotten it yet, it could be due to several reasons:
Possible causes of late periods:
Pregnancy – If you are sexually active, take a home pregnancy test to rule this out.
Hormonal imbalance – Stress, poor diet, or conditions like PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome) can delay periods.
Weight changes – Sudden weight gain or loss can affect your cycle.
Illness or medication – Recent fever, infections, or new medications might have disrupted your cycle.
Thyroid issues – Hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism can affect menstrual cycles.
Perimenopause (if over 40) – Irregular cycles can happen as menopause approaches.
What you should do:
Take a pregnancy test – If you are sexually active, take a test first thing in the morning.
Track symptoms – Any cramping, bloating, acne, or breast tenderness? These could indicate an upcoming period.
See a doctor if it is over two months late – A gynecologist may recommend blood tests (thyroid, hormone levels) or an ultrasound.
Manage stress and diet – Try reducing stress, eating a balanced diet, and staying hydrated.
Would you like recommendations for natural ways to regulate your cycle?
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thank you.
