Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My 5-year-old son had a little fever (about 100 degrees Fahrenheit) a week ago, and we were giving him Paracetamol. We visited the pediatrician the next day. He prescribed Cefixime after seeing the urine report. Since last night, there has been no fever. He is active and playful, too. But this evening, he asked for two glasses of water, and during his dinner, he vomited. I saw the rice that he took during lunch. He had a little vomiting twice yesterday and once on that day. Are these symptoms of dengue?
Please help.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
As per the limited information provided, he had a fever, which has subsided and he is having some vomiting. Any viral fever can give rise to vomiting or if there is some throat infection. Even giving drugs on an empty stomach. Have you done any blood tests? If yes, share, and I will inform you accordingly. You have already started antibiotics, but there is no information related to any bacterial infection. The urine report is normal.
Your pediatrician might have seen some focus on infection. Did he inform you? If yes, please share the report. If he is otherwise fine, active, taking meals, and passing urine well, then just keep him well hydrated with a good amount of fluids and ORS (oral rehydration solution). Give a bland diet like bananas, yogurt, rice, potatoes, apple juice, etc. Avoid spicy food. As you are already on antibiotics, continue it for the complete course.
Share other details, and I will inform you accordingly.
Regards.
