Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My uncle is 38 years old. He has been suffering from dengue for the past two days. He is hospitalized and takes treatment. After recovering from this infection, how to take care of him? Please tell him some protective measures to be followed to protect his family members from getting this infection.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Dengue is spread by mosquito bites. It does not spread by close contact with a person affected by dengue. The only way of preventing dengue is by preventing mosquito bites by using nets or repellents. It is important to note that the dengue mosquito bites during day time and hence these measures have to be taken during day time. Make sure there are no areas in and around your house where there is stagnant water - as it is a breeding ground for the Aedes mosquito which carries the dengue virus.
Also once your uncle has recovered from an infection, you may take care of him by giving him nutritious food and plenty of fluids.
Kindly consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
