Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am currently dealing with a dental infection accompanied by facial swelling. I visited the dentist for the affected tooth approximately four months ago, but extraction was postponed due to high blood pressure. I have been working with my doctor to manage my blood pressure, and I was prescribed 300 mg of Clindamycin initially. However, as the infection persisted, the dosage was increased to 450 mg for two weeks, which initially resolved the issue. Unfortunately, the symptoms have returned, and I am unable to secure appointments with either my dentist or doctor for the next two or three weeks. Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

Thank you for reaching out and I am here to assist you.

Regarding your dental infection symptoms, I suggest you discontinue your current medication and start the following:

  1. Injection Ceftriaxone 1g once daily for one week.
  2. Take tablet Acetaminophen 500 mg orally three times a day.
  3. Take tablet Diclofenac 100 mg orally twice a day.
  4. Take tablet Metronidazole 400 mg orally three times a day.
  5. Take capsule Co-Amoxiclav (Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid) 625 mg orally twice a day.
  6. Take tablet Ketoconazole 200 mg orally once daily.

If your symptoms persist, please schedule a follow-up appointment for further assessment through chat, phone, or video consultation.

Thank you.
