How to treat a recurring dental infection with facial swelling?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am currently dealing with a dental infection accompanied by facial swelling. I visited the dentist for the affected tooth approximately four months ago, but extraction was postponed due to high blood pressure. I have been working with my doctor to manage my blood pressure, and I was prescribed 300 mg of Clindamycin initially. However, as the infection persisted, the dosage was increased to 450 mg for two weeks, which initially resolved the issue. Unfortunately, the symptoms have returned, and I am unable to secure appointments with either my dentist or doctor for the next two or three weeks. Please help.

Thank you.
