Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am almost always sad, and every time I try to get happy, I tear up and get sad. When it comes to crucial information, my memory is deteriorating. I cannot eat because I will start feeling sick. I lack motivation and am constantly exhausted. The symptoms began years ago, but despite my best efforts, they only worsened. Because I did not have a reliable place to live during high school, I felt depressed and unable to change my living conditions. What is wrong? How can I change these feelings?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.
Kindly screen yourself for clinical depression. Do a self-rating test of depression like Zung's self-rating depression scale, which you can easily find online. If it indicates moderate to severe depression, consult a psychiatrist for detailed evaluation and treatment. Treatment is available in the form of medications and psychotherapy. Besides certain things that can help:
Meditation daily for at least half an hour in the morning helps relax and focus.
Maintain a flexible schedule, regularly exercise, and consume a nutritious diet high in antioxidants and omega fatty acids.
Maintain a journal and daily log down your thoughts uncensored. Retrospect them, put them down to logic, and try to change.
Sharing feelings with loved ones or close friends can be helpful.
Remember, every problem has a solution. You just need to try solving it, and help is just a step away.
I hope this will help you. Feel free to ask if you have any further queries.
Thank you.
