Destructed Rbc

Red blood cells or erythrocytes are non-nucleated, biconcave, disk-shaped, flattened cells with pale red color. They transport oxygen from the lungs to different parts of the body and bring back carbon dioxide to the lungs for exhalation. Their life span is 120 days. After this period, they are destroyed by the phagocytes of the spleen and liver sinusoids. It is mediated by phosphatidylserine. In conditions like hemolytic anemia, RBCs are destroyed earlier than 120 days.
