Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 70 years old, and I have diabetes. However, my sugar is now under control, and I am concerned about a non-healing ulcer on my leg. I am worried it might be a diabetic foot ulcer. How can I identify if it is a diabetic foot ulcer? Are there specific symptoms or signs to look out for? If it is, what are the best steps for treatment and care? I want to make sure, I am taking the right approach to handle this. Any guidance or advice on identifying and treating diabetic foot ulcers would be greatly appreciated.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I just read your query. I can understand your concern.
If the ulcer came without any injury or insect bite, then it is a diabetic ulcer only. So, I mean to say if there is no other cause and the ulcer just appeared then this is a diabetic ulcer. Usually, diabetic ulcers are black, and they come with a burning sensation, and they do not heal easily. I would suggest you attach a picture of it. I will check and let you know if it is a diabetic ulcer or not.
Usually, it is treated with surgical management. It includes regular dressing for it and applies antibacterial ointment. Please attach a picture of it. I will check and let you know.
I hope that you got your answer.
Please, let me know if you want some help.
Thank you.
Regards.
