Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 31-year-old female, and I am 5 feet 5 inches tall. I am having severe loose motions that are like a waterfall from the hips. My current medications are Antioquinol and Limolet.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Your symptoms suggest acute watery diarrhea, most likely due to acute gastroenteritis, commonly caused by viral infection, contaminated food, or water. The description of “waterfall-like loose motion” indicates significant fluid loss, and the main risk is dehydration, especially if frequent.
The most important treatment is oral rehydration therapy (ORS). Take small, frequent sips (200 to 250 mL after each loose stool). Continue a normal light diet such as rice, banana, curd, and avoid oily or spicy food. Limotil (Diphenoxylate) may reduce frequency but should be used cautiously and avoided if fever or blood in stool develops. Antimicrobial is sometimes used, but not always necessary, in viral diarrhea.
Watch for warning signs like reduced urine, dizziness, persistent vomiting, fever, or symptoms lasting more than three days. In such cases, stool tests and medical evaluation are required. Most acute diarrhea resolves within two to five days with proper hydration and supportive care.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
