Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My son has been experiencing seizures, and despite visiting multiple doctors, his condition has not improved. How does Valtoco work in treating seizures? What are the potential benefits and side effects, and is it suitable for a teenage patient?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

I would request you to add his previous reports and investigations. I want to know whether your child is presently on medications or not.

A few points to be considered are:

1. Type of seizures and cause of seizures.

2. EEG (electroencephalography) report, CT (computed tomography) scan, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) reports.

3. Is he taking anticoagulant medications regularly?

A few points for your consideration are:

1. It takes a while for any drug to act and control seizures and the regimen is modified to multidrug therapy if the seizures are not controlled.

2. Different types of seizures are amenable to treatment by different drugs. So, I would not suggest self-treatment.

3. Compliance with the drugs and taking drugs regularly is important as missing doses can lead to breakthrough seizures.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
