Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 36-year-old woman. In the past a few months, I have been experiencing digestive and gas issues and discomfort, and it is impacting my daily life. I recently read an article about the Lancet Infectious Diseases. I am worried whether I have got any such infections? How to find this out and how can I improve my gut health? Can any pro or prebiotic help me get through this? If so, can you please tell any specific diet including probiotics to improve my gut health?
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
So, disturbance in normal gut bacteria (gut microbiota) would cause bloating and stomach issues. This imbalance is known as dysbiosis. Some important lifestyle modifications are to avoid frequent eating out, avoid reheated meals, and try to eat home-cooked, fresh meals. Avoid alcohol consumption. Add yogurt to your diet as a natural source of probiotics. Add commercially available probiotics sachet or capsules once daily for two to four weeks. There are no specific probiotics. You can switch brands after two to four weeks to introduce a different spectrum of healthy bacteria to your gut. Avoid smoked or over-smoked foods, dairy, and meat products, as these are risk factors for colon cancer. You can have meat one to two times per day, and it should be normally cooked. Avoid unfiltered medical information from the web as it would cause health-related anxiety.
I hope this helps.
Revert in case of queries.
Kind regards.
