Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 21-year-old female who experienced a possessed state while taking two pills of Venlafaxine (Flaxyne) daily. I saw white things outside my head, heard voices inside my head, and felt pressure inside my head. I was unsure if the voices were one ghost or multiple. I tried calming techniques from internet sources but could not sleep at night. I did not offend others during the possession state.
I also listened to hypnotherapy and meditation on the internet. When I listened to these sessions, I remembered my childhood trauma and burst into tears.
My psychiatrist diagnosed them with PTSD, depression, and intrusive thoughts before taking Venlafaxine. After reducing their dose, they stopped taking Venlafaxine completely. My childhood trauma was sexual harassment by my maternal grandfather. I was too afraid to tell my parents about it, but I did so this year.
I have not taken any medications. I want to know what the possessed state is called in psychiatry.
Kindly help.
