How to manage dizziness?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello Doctor,

I am a 27-year-old woman, 135 pounds, and about 5 feet 5 inches. I have been feeling lightheaded and dizzy for a few hours. I spent the entire day at my in-laws' house, which has four cats and a strong smell of urine. I am asthmatic and usually need to take Claritin D for my allergies when I go there. Now that I am back in my apartment (animal-free) after four to five hours, I still feel dizzy and cannot fall asleep. I am drinking water, and breathing normally, and my heart rate is normal, but the dizziness and wooziness are not subsiding. The only medication I take is birth control pills.

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

This is present just for a day, not a chronic problem. This may be due to a strong smell which will go away with rest, and hypoglycemia if you have not had food properly. So eat some food, especially sweets. Try to have a rest.

If tablet Vertin (beta histidine) 8 or 16 mg(milligrams) is available, have it. Or else some sedative-like Alprazolam or Clonazepam or Zolpidem if available, have it and try to fall asleep. Do you have any upper abdominal pain, nausea, bloating, burping, or reflux problem, if yes, then it could be due to acidity and gastritis. Have some antacids like tablet Pantoprazole 40 mg or Esomeprazole 20 mg now. Overall, do not worry it should resolve, dim your lights and try to dose off. I hope this helps you get back if you have any doubts.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.

Thank you.
