Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Please analyze the report and provide guidance on whether my pelvic sonography reports indicates pregnancy.

Transabdominal and transvaginal sonography conducted the following:

  1. The urinary bladder appears normal in terms of capacity and wall thickness. No signs of mass lesion or calculi are observed.
  2. The uterus is enlarged and measures: 3.9 × 1.6 × 1.4 inches.
  3. The myometrial echogenicity is within normal limits.
  4. No focal abnormalities are detected. The endometrial thickness measures 8.4 mm.
  5. The right ovary demonstrates normal size and echotexture.
  6. The right ovary dimensions are: 1.1 × 0.7 × 0.5 inches.
  7. The structures adjacent to the right ovary are clear.
  8. A follicle of 11 mm diameter is evident in the right ovary.
  9. The left ovary reveals a simple cyst with dimensions of 1.3 × 1.1 inches. The cyst exhibits no echoes, septations, calcifications, or solid components.
  10. No presence of fluid is noted in the pouch of Douglas.
  11. Uterus is larger than usual.
  12. A simple cyst is observed in the left ovary.

Kindly provide your insight.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understood your concern. Based on this report, pregnancy is not indicated. A small ovarian cyst is present, but since it is a simple cyst, there is no cause for concern. If there are no accompanying symptoms, no intervention is necessary for this. However, the endometrial thickness has slightly increased. Could you also provide your last menstrual date? This information will help me offer more accurate guidance. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Based on the information you provided and according to the day of menstrual cycle the endometrial thickness is satisfactory. There is nothing to worry. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor.

The right ovary shows 11 mm diameter follicle, so what does that mean? Please kindly explain it to me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, I would like to inform you that in each menstrual cycle, numerous follicles develop in both ovaries. Among these, only one to two follicles reach maturity, becoming dominant and leading to egg release. Therefore, the presence of an 11 mm follicle is considered normal. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thanks doctor.

I have one more question. Do a woman gain weight due to ovarian cyst?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, I would like to inform you that, there is a minimal likelihood of weight gain due to a simple ovarian cyst. I suggest you engage in regular exercise and modify your diet by incorporating more green leafy vegetables and fruits, particularly citrus fruits to reduce weight. Stay well-hydrated, aiming for at least 101.5 ounces of water daily. Refrain from intense exercise and avoid heavy weight lifting, as these activities could potentially result in a twisted ovarian cyst. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
