Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Despite being a virgin, I consistently experience lower abdominal pain whenever my fiancé attempts penetration or sexual intercourse with me. But before trying vaginal intercourse, we always engaged in anal sex because we both wanted to have proper intercourse after marriage.
However, recently, whenever we try vaginal penetration, it hurts so much that we have to stop. I went to the laboratory to have some scans done, but I wanted someone to translate the scans for me before showing them to my doctor.
Kindly give your suggestions.
Hi,
Thanks for trusting us with your health care.
I can understand your concern.
Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed dyspareunia, which is painful sex, possibly due to your unbroken hymen. I reviewed your scan (attachment removed to protect the patient’s identity), and it showed mild pelvic inflammatory disease caused by a bacterial, fungal, or viral infection.
Please undergo a high vaginal and endocervical swab test and reply to me with the results. If you want to avoid pain during vaginal or anal sex, you can use a water-based gel lubricant and apply it to your genital area.
Please take the following medication for the infection:
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further.
Thank you.
