Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

This is for an international article. Kindly answer the query as elaborately as possible. We are posting this query with iCliniq's permission. How safe are baby food pouches? I am writing an article on baby food pouches so I want to know if they are safe for use around babies. Does using pouches rather than a spoon prevent them from developing their motor skills? Can they consume food from a plastic pouch? Do they include more sugar than typical baby food? Do purees affect a baby's eating habits negatively? Any information would be much appreciated.

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The usage of baby pouches can affect their safety. If adequate hygiene is not kept, they are effective in spreading illnesses. Baby pouches simply require sucking, which the majority of newborns are already competent at. Therefore, continued use could impede motor growth. When consumed before the expiration date, a new pouch is acceptable. It is preferable to pour the food into a dish and give the infants spoons to eat from. Some brands may have sugar levels that are greater than advised. From their earliest years, babies need to be exposed to or stimulated by a variety of dietary flavors and sensations. Giving solely purees will thus result in issues down the road.

Thank you
