Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My 69-year-old father was feeling very tired and lethargic for the past week. So, today we took him to have a master check-up. The lady who took the ECG (electrocardiogram) said it was poor. What does it mean by poor ECG doctor? We are anxious and scared after hearing this. He vomited six times and at last blood came from his mouth. After that he was fine but he had a mild fever. What could be the reason for this? Is this due to gastro issues or cardiac issues?
Kindly Suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I am very sorry about your medical condition, and I am glad you are paying attention to changes in your body. Do not worry, I am here to take care of you. Based on the symptoms you have described, your father might have had a heart attack. An abnormal ECG (electrocardiogram) result suggests irregular cardiac activity, and vomiting can also be associated with heart attacks. I strongly recommend that you take him to the emergency department of a well-equipped hospital immediately and seek treatment from a cardiologist. He requires proper medical care in a suitable setting.
Do not let him become weak or take any stress. Sometimes, in old age, the heart weakens and shows abnormalities on an ECG, but his symptoms could also be due to a gastric issue. To be sure, please take him to a good hospital as soon as possible. He may need immediate treatment, along with an echocardiography test to check for a heart attack and determine the next steps for further management. I hope he recovers soon.
I hope I have solved your query.
Thank you.
