How do I treat red bumps on my finger at age 41?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 41-year-old male. On the middle finger of my right hand, I noticed a large red bump that started getting yellow. There are a few more small bumps on the right side of my finger.

Any idea what it could be and how it can be treated?

Please help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

It is eczematous dermatitis with a secondary bacterial infection. I suggest you apply Mupirocin ointment or cream twice daily for 15 days and take the following medications.

  1. Take one tablet of Cefixime 200 mg twice daily after food for five days.
  2. Apply Lacto calamine lotion (moisturizing lotion) three to four times daily for ten days.
  3. Take one tablet of Emanzen D (Diclofenac sodium and Serratiopeptidase) twice daily for three days (if there is any pain).

Avoid scratching and rubbing of lesions, and also avoid using harsh soaps or detergents. Do not get in touch with known irritants or allergy-triggering substances. Monitor sugar levels, maintain good hygiene, and keep the affected area dry. While applying the cream, clean the area with povidone-iodine and a cotton gauze piece, and then apply with clean hands.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.
