Why am I having difficulty inserting the penis during sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 30-year-old male. I got married a few months back but I still have not been able to have sex as I am having difficulty in inserting my penis in the vagina. I get an erection during foreplay but after undressing I am not able to insert. I have a history of masturbation addiction as well. What to do?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query.

According to your complaints, you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction.

There can be multiple causes for erectile dysfunction (ED) including,

1. Stress due to work or family-related duties.

2. Depression.

3. Varicocele.

4. Fear of failure.

5. Low self-esteem due to chronic masturbation.

6. Homosexuality (not attracted to the same sex).

7. Religious constraints.

8. Smoking and alcohol.

9. Long-term illness due to cardiac disease, thyroid disease, kidney disease, or any other disease with long-term medications.

10. Vitamin deficiency.

11. Negative attitude towards your partner.

12. Hormonal issues such as thyroid issues, low testosterone, and increased prolactin.

13. Long-term drug usage.

14. Diabetes and hypertension.

I suggest you do a penile Doppler ultrasound, ultrasound pelvis, and scrotum, blood pressure, RBS (random blood sugar) test, and tests for testosterone, and thyroid stimulating hormone levels. You need to plan for regular exercise and a proper diet. For a temporary solution, I suggest you take a table of Sildenafil (phosphodiesterase inhibitor) twice daily.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for such a quick response.

Out of the reasons you have listed, I may be suffering from low self-esteem (chronic masturbation). My diet is a bit irregular and I do not get much physical activity. Can you please elaborate on my diagnosis and tell me what should I do to recover?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I suggest you plan for yoga and have sex twice or thrice a week with your partner. Also, calculate the amount of protein you take and calories you consume in a day. Mild weight lifting will also give you good results.

Hope it helps.

Thanks and regards.
