Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been married for the last four years and have not had any children so far. Initially, our sex life was fine, but over the last one to two years, it has not been as good. I am losing interest in sex with my wife. We live together the whole time, but we have sex only about three to four times a month. In the early months of our marriage, sex felt good with my wife, but these days, I do not feel as attracted to her sexually. She often complains about not having regular sex.
I consulted a doctor ten months ago, and he prescribed the following medications for erectile dysfunction:
Cavenor sachet (twice daily for one month).
Androwin (once daily for three months).
Tazzle 5 mg (once daily for half a month).
I could not take Tazzle because it caused ear buzzing that lasted several days. I continued with the other two medications, and during that time, there was some improvement in my sex life. However, after finishing the medication, I feel the same problem has returned.
I also had a semen analysis, which showed a sperm count of 50 million/ml, 70 % active sperm, and six to eight pus cells per high-power field. The semen test was done after abstaining from sex for five days. Additionally, my serum testosterone level was 265. These tests were done ten months ago.
I do not have diabetes, high blood pressure, or thyroid issues, nor do I consume alcohol or cigarettes. I suffer from severe gastritis and have intolerances to both fructose and lactose. As a result, I am unable to eat many foods that could help improve my sexual stamina due to my gastric problems.
I have had a habit of masturbating for many years, but in recent months, I have lost interest in doing so. These days, my penis remains flaccid and does not get erect often. I have the following questions regarding this issue:
Why am I losing interest in sex, and why does my penis remain flaccid?
Which medication would you recommend in this case?
Can I take Cavenor sachet whenever feel like losing interest in sex?
Will this problem ever go away or remain throughout life?
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
Here are the answers to your queries:
Regarding losing interest in sex and flaccid penis issues: Boredom can be a reason, as well as not receiving something you expect from your partner. In the beginning, one may have multiple sexual demands and may be able to adjust, but over time, these demands can change. If these needs are not met, it can lead to a decrease in libido. You may need to consult a psychiatrist for counseling regarding this issue.
Medicine for this issue: You can use 100 mg of Avanafil (Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor) tablets twice a week, and take 60 minutes before sexual activity. Take it only before sex.
You can take Cavenor (L-arginine and Proanthocyanidins) sachets whenever you feel a loss of interest in sex without any issues.
This issue can be resolved with proper management. Do not rely solely on medication. With counseling and appropriate treatment, you can completely overcome this problem.
I hope this has helped you.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
These are some follow-up queries I have:
Will Avanafil 100mg cause ear ringing, as Tazzle did? (I feel that this drug may have similar side effects to Tazzle.)
How long should Avanafil 100mg be taken? How long do its effects last after taking it?
If I am able to get an erection with Cavenor, do I need to take any other medication?
Kindly provide your insight.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understood your concern.
We cannot be certain if it will cause side effects or not unless it is used. Generally, it is considered to have fewer side effects compared to Tadalafil.
The medicine can be taken on an as-needed basis for two to three months. The effects will last for 24 hours.
You can take a multivitamin that contains zinc (such as Zincovit) once a day after food for 30 days. It will help you.
Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.
Thank you.
