How to deal with tendonitis despite using medication?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I was initially diagnosed with tendonitis due to pain in my wrist and thumb accompanied by a sensation of burning in my cartilage. While my mobility is generally unaffected, I intermittently experience pain in the area between my thumb and wrist and pain in my index finger. The wrist pain primarily occurs before the carpals, extending to the middle of my forearm and elbow. Additionally, I notice tickling sensations in my wrist, elbow, and thumb base during movement. I have been taking Etoricoxib for two months, along with Febuxostat, Methyl Techno, and vitamin D for two weeks. Despite this medication regimen, I still experience persistent pain. Kindly guide.

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Regarding your symptoms, I believe you have developed a treatment failure from your medications. I propose you have rheumatoid arthritis (an autoimmune condition causing joint inflammation and pain). I suggest doing a C-reactive protein (CRP) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) test and reply with the results.

Meanwhile, I suggest taking two tablets of Celecoxib 200 mg orally twice daily for two weeks and two tablets of Diclofenac 50 mg orally twice daily for two weeks. Consult your doctor and take medicines accordingly.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert so I can assist you further.

Thank you.
