Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have been ill for four weeks, and I had to stop using my treadmill. I tend to get sick every winter, despite all precautions. I usually recover in two weeks but not this time. I have no sore throat, fever, or cough, but I sneeze twice a day. My feet and hands get cold, my arms and legs ache in the middle of the night, and my face feels flush almost all the time. I have a good appetite.

Last year I was diagnosed with a sensitivity to mold. So I use Nasacort twice a day and take Xyzal. I just had a series of blood tests, including CK, Complete metabolic Panel, CBC with differential count, TSH, FT4, and FT3. Everything was normal. Also, I have had all three Moderna shots, the flu vaccine, and have been tested twice in the last two weeks for Covid.

Would you please give me some suggestions?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. I have gone through your reports (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), and they are normal. You do not have any symptoms of flu or infection. It is just cold sensitivity. So I would suggest you continue with tablet Levocetirizine 10 mg once a day for five days before sleeping. Do you have any itching or rashes on your body? Would you please let me know if any?

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I took Levocetirizine 10 mg once a day before sleeping for two years. I am retired and in my house for most of the week. It is true I get this malady every winter, but I wear heavy clothing outside, and my house is well heated. So I do not understand the reason for cold sensitivity. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

You may get a malady every winter due to weather changes. Even if you wear heavy cloth due to weather changes, you develop an allergy, which is why you face such symptoms. Cold sensitivity means you are allergic to winter (cold).

If levocetirizine is not helping, then I would suggest tablet Allegra (Fexofenadine) 120 mg once daily before sleeping for five days, not more than that.

Would you please let me know after five days?

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
