How to reduce flatulence and constipation?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been struggling with excessive flatulence and mild constipation for some time. I have been sensitive to lactose and have it cut out but I am still struggling. I am currently on Psyllium husk and probiotics. I cannot sit with others for more than five minutes before I pass gas. Is there a way for me to reduce the symptoms before two weeks? Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I can understand your concern.

When one has not eaten anything, bacteria in the stomach keep decomposing the food that has been left in the gut and this process produces gas in the gut. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  • Consume lots of liquids.
  • Steer clear of carbonated beverages, caffeinated beverages, junk food, smoking, and alcohol (if applicable).
  • Increase the intake of vegetables.
  • Try consuming fruits and vegetables that are uncooked.
  • Eat modest, frequent meals rather than two big ones.
  • Keep up your physical activity.
  • Consume foods high in fiber, such as whole wheat products.
  • Fewer dairy products are consumed.
  • Kindly visit your doctor so that medications can be provided following a thorough examination.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.
