Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
Over the past week, I have been having bowel movements twice a day every few days. Generally, my stools are mostly solid; however, I have recently experienced loose stools after eating greasy food in the evening. I have also been suffering from severe anxiety. Usually, I go once a day in the morning. I am concerned about this situation.
Please guide.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and understand your concerns.
I have reviewed your medical history and would like to provide my feedback:
1. We typically eat two to three times a day, and we are all exposed to multiple bacteria daily. Sometimes, even subtle changes in the gut microbiota can lead to altered bowel habits, similar to what you are experiencing.
2. Consider the risk factors, which include eating out and consuming reheated meals. Additionally, I recommend incorporating probiotics into your diet, particularly from natural sources such as yogurt, as this can help improve gut health and balance gut bacteria.
3. There is no need to worry; stress and anxiety can trigger further gut movements, which may increase the frequency of your stools.
4. With the addition of probiotics, you should notice improvements within a few days. However, if your symptoms do not improve, we can consider conducting a stool sample analysis, known as a stool detailed report. At that time, we might also consider adding a locally acting antibiotic, such as tablet Rifaximin 550 mg, to be taken twice daily for at least five days.
I hope this answers your query. Feel free to reach out anytime.
Thank you.
